75 Art is a 75-day drawing challenge hosted by artist, illustrator, and designer Genna Blackburn.
This challenge began on January 26, 2024 and concluded on April 9, 2024
For this challenge, I chose the consistency of creating on 5” square pieces of watercolor paper and leaving the rest open for inspiration.
Post Experience Takeaways
I loved this challenge. There were certainly days in which I fell behind, but I always wanted to catch back up and complete the project and I did.
It’s a fact of life that we never know what is going to happen. I think that sometimes we hesitate to commit to something like this because we don’t have 75 straight days of easy-to-grab free time. So, I didn’t commit to this project with the hope of free time. During this project, I had an unexpected trip to Idaho for a funeral, two weeks of spring break with my kiddos, two other trips to Southern Utah, and a whole lot of daily life and chores that could have gotten in the way. I committed to this project with my end desire in mind: to create 75 little pieces of art for my website. As silly as it sounds, this webpage kind of kept me going. It had been far too long since I made art by hand and, honestly, I forgot how much I love it. Now, as I embark on other creative projects, I have this challenge to encourage and inspire me.
