YOU ARE MAGIC

One of the things that I believe so emphatically is this:

YOU ARE MAGIC.

Here’s what I mean by this: You have the awesome ability to create and transform the world around you and, when you believe in that ability of yours, you can do incredible things.

You may feel resistant to the idea that you hav any sort of magic. After all, you know all the hard work and effort you put into doing what you do. It hardly seems magical at all when you take all of that into account. I agree with you. When someone is totally amazed by what I’ve created or designed, I don’t have any inclinations at all to call it a product of magic. I know the hours I spent brainstorming and designing. I remember all the versions that didn’t work out and were abandoned.

The thing is, your magic isn’t for you. Your magic is for others.

Your magic is the way that you serve others and contribute in this world. It’s the way others are lit up by what it is that you have created or transformed. To you, it’s work or skill. To others, it’s magic.

People might not call it magic. People might not recognize what you do as magic, per se. That’s ok. That doesn’t diminish its impact.

I call it magic because I want YOU to know of its impact.

If you know you are magic and have magic, my hope is that you’ll be more inclined to go out and spread your magic. Whatever it is that you do, it makes a difference. You need to know that. You need to acknowledge that. You need to embrace that.

And because you are magic, it’s your responsibility to go out there and share it.
